Ever wondered how to turn a thick bezel into prongs? That’s exactly what I’m doing here, and it’s way simpler than it looks. I’m using a cylinder bur to remove the material between where I want my prongs to be, but honestly? A needle file can do this entire job. And you’ll probably want one either way — it’s what gets those scallop shapes between the prongs looking clean and even. Small prong settings can feel really intimidating, especially with smaller stones, like this gorgeous rose cut Peridot from
@luciditygemstones This technique just requires some hand control if you’re using a bur, practice before you modify your final piece. You’re not building prongs from scratch, you’re just removing what doesn’t need to be there. I just eyeballed north, south, east, west, and worked my way around until I had the prongs I wanted. However you can mark your bezel! Simple modification, totally different look. if you’re wondering about my funky star pendant, I took a star-shaped pony bead and sand cast it, which is why it has all those bubbles. Just in case you were wondering! 😄 Hope this was helpful and thank you to
