Love seeing tips and techniques learned from this community and my book, shared by @alimorse.jewelry
“I recently made a few upgrades in the studio. I have been reading Metalsmith Society’s Guide to Jewelry Making which took me back to some fundamental basics I needed to hear again.
First, I made myself a solution of boric acid and denatured alcohol that will help prevent fire scale on my pieces while I solder. Yes, I knew about this. No, I have never done it. It’s about time!
Second, I used a magnetic strip to hang up my files so that they are not all clattering around together in my drawer. Yes, I knew this was bad for them. I did it anyway. 🙈 *check out the demagnetizer it removes the magnet effect from files and other tools!*
Lastly, I used some extra strong Velcro to hang up my flex shaft handpiece. I guess this thing is supposed to stay upright so that the lubrication doesn’t flow down into the handpiece. I’ve left it hanging for the last 10+ years and it probably needs some TLC. At least this is a step in the right direction.”
Thank you SO much for sharing this with us!! I absolutely love to see that my book has inspired some changes. The book is inspired by this amazing community and ALL OF YOU. I will link it for those that want to get a signed copy. My book may not be in print forever so get it while you can!
