Create  a  soldering  nest  like  this  by  taking  22g/.64mm  (it  can  be  heavier  or  thinner  as  well)  bending  and  flattening  it.  You  can  use  it  to  elevate  your  work,  get  an  even  heating  and  good  flow.  When  I  am  soldering  bezels  to  backplates  I  like  to  heat  from  below  so  I  can  apply  heat  to  the  larger  piece  of  metal  and  reduce  my  risk  of  melting  my  bezel!  
Other  uses  for  binding  wire:
-  I  also  use  binding  wire  to  bind  around  a  soft  charcoal  block,  this  can  help  prevent  it  from  falling  apart.  
-Holding  components  together  during  soldering,  such  as  a  stone  setting  to  a  ring  shank.
-Applying  a  little  pressure  to  a  solder  seam.
