#tooltalktuesday I wanted to talk about my most important accessory in the studio: my loupe necklace 😊 this particular loupe from our friends
@ottofrei1930 has LED lights and magnifies at 10X. I can’t recommend enough purchasing a loupe and stringing it on a cord around your neck. That way when you pull things out of the pickle pot and you want to ensure your solder seams are perfect, or you are checking your stone settings you can grab your loupe and quickly check. I consider having one of these an essential for beginners, they are inexpensive and will give you the unclose view of your work to ensure all is well. If you take a look at your solder seams with one of these before you set a bezel for example you will never again have a design element fall off or a ring shank or a part of a bezel because you will clearly see where solder didn’t flow. I also used mine heavily when I was learning flush setting, it would allow me to determine if the table of my stone was sitting flat and that the seat I cut for the stone was even. I definitely leveled up with the LED light, it just makes it that much easier to see what’s happening but you can also opt to turn it off!
